Our philosophy
At Focus Forward K9, we believe that every dog is a unique individual. Their personality, genetics, past experiences, and learning style all play a role in how they understand and interact with the world.
We follow a flexible, reward-based training approach that adapts to each dog’s specific needs. Our goal is to foster a strong bond between dogs and their humans built on trust, compassion, and clear communication.
We believe in:
-
Recognizing each dog's individuality—including their motivators, learning pace, and challenges
-
Building confidence and life skills through positive reinforcement and engagement
-
Creating mutual understanding between dogs and their people
-
Respecting both the dog’s and owner’s pace to support long-term success
-
Offering training methods we use with our own dogs, and guiding owners to choose the best fit for their pet
Our Training Methods
At Focus Forward K9, we believe in a thoughtful, balanced approach to training—grounded in positive reinforcement and built on trust, communication, and respect. Our methods are designed to be both effective and adaptable, helping each dog learn in a way that suits their individual needs.
As balanced trainers, we primarily use positive reinforcement to motivate and reward desired behaviors, while also incorporating clear boundaries and guidance when needed. Our goal is to create a well-rounded, confident dog and a capable, empowered owner.
We’re here to help with everything from foundational manners to advanced dog sports, using techniques that are humane, ethical, and personalized to each dog-human team.
